Word on the Street

Trick (trik’) verb. tricked, tricking, tricks. The act of missing an easy, undefended shot, usually a layup.

Usage example: “Unless the stars are aligned, Greg Ostertag will most likey trick the layup.”

Word history: The word probably originated in pick-up basketball games, where the trash talk is wildly creative. It was popularized by the NBA Street video game series.
