Word on the Street

3-2 Defense (three-too dih-fens) noun. A zone defense where the main goal is to stop lane drives by guards.

Usage example: “Their guards are too fast, they are killing us in the paint. Lets switch to a 3-2 defense.”

Word characteristics: The 3-2 defense or 3-2 zone is used when trying to stop the other teams guards. The zone only works if the (3) defender is quick and can communicate.

Defender number 3 is the key, use a small forward that can see the game.
