Word on the Street

Triple Single. (trip’-ul sing-guhl) noun. A feat in basketball where the player have 10-19 stats in three different categories. Ex. 12 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds.

Usage example: last night Tim Duncan had a triple single, 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Word characteristics: A triple-single is seen as an indication of an excellent all-around individual performance. They are rare, as the top players usually accumulate fewer than 10 in a season.

Keep going for those triple singles big guy.

Editors note: I know, as well as everybody here on the Silent Assassin staff, that the real name is a Triple Double. But I think that it doesn’t sound right, to me a Double should be 20 or more. And besides that, it’s my blog and I can call it what ever the hell I like, the “single” stays.
